In time, the charm within our towns and cities change, due to altering architectural styles. Ostentatious generosity, demonstrative opulence and superficial, showy behaviour were regarded as luxuries in Wilhelmian times. Today our towns are characterised by the beauty of simplicity. Now that there is no longer such a degree of insular functionalism within the building trade, future town planning scenarios can include a little something artistic, something fictitio-us and something narrative in their architectural designs, instead of simply fulfilling the functional demands. A building which is intended to visually accentuate its contents and concepts, highlight environmental aspects and annotations or emphasise a particular function, requires a material with the potential to fulfil such demands.
